Climategate: Still Alive and Kicking

Things have really started to pick up, what with scientists now admitting they dumped the raw data their original theory was based on, John Stewart knocking those involved, and one of the guilty stepping down "temporarily". Now even Pennsylvania State University is holding an inquiry on Mann, the godfather of global warming, and to top it off NASA is hiding information too.

This has not gone away, and where I think the real sparks will really start to fly is between December 7th and December 18th at Copenhagen. I just do not see India, China, and Brazil coming along on this one quietly, and let's face it: the US just doesn't have the juice anymore. Are we important on the world stage? Absolutely. Are we so important that these developing markets will significantly handicap themselves? Not likely.

More importantly however is why are we even still considering cap and trade? One way or the other, it will have a large impact on our economy. Whether or not it is an extremely negative (vs. moderately negative) one cannot be said for sure. One thing I do know that our economy is currently very fragile, and with a huge and expensive health care over haul in the works I do not think it is the time to levy large taxes on corporations . This is too much, too fast, and it is very risky at best.

Given the doubts that these emails bring forth, and that scientists have admitted to destroying the original raw data which could be used to double check their calculations, we should be very cautious about how we move forward. Focus on innovations that minimize pollution, and to clarify I mean actual pollution not carbon dioxide. Focus on alternative power methods like solar which are, for all intents and purposes, infinite. These are things which will bring us to a better tomorrow, cap and trade is nothing more than a governmental power grab.

While you ponder all that, feel free to take a look at this and watch nothing change over the past ten years:

Global Warming Implosion Update

Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma is pissed off, and rightly so. He's the first to pick up the torch recently lit by a Russian hacker and run with it. I hope more jump on the wagon with him, because it's time to take "Global Warming" out to pasture.

No warming in the past ten years. Scientists at the IPCC conspiring to fudge the data, or just plain conceal it. Billions spent on "green" initiatives. That's your tax dollars folks, your money and it's being spent on, well, absolute garbage.

This movement might have had some good intentions at some point, but all it has become is a bunch of people trying to protect their jobs. That's all there is to it. See, if man made global warming is a farce, then what will these people do with their lives?

For the hardcore believers it's equally hard to swallow. While their jobs may not depend on "warming" being true, much of their credibility does. Their entire world view, how they internalize their value and externalize their behavior, has much to do with their triumph as world saviors in the green movement.

Unfortunately for them, they're costing the rest of us precious resources and time. They need to find a new hobby less intrusive into the lives of billions of other people. Maybe stamp collecting?

"Man Made" Global Warming In Doubt

EDIT: I got the file, and am digging through it now. One thing I noticed right away was this:

Oh yeah, these guys got skills baby.

God bless hackers.

For those of you who don't know, the Global Warming/Green Initiative just got dealt a huge blow, one I'm hoping is the prelude to the death blow. Yesterday some hackers were able to gain access to the Hadley/CRU climate research unit and download data containing emails from members there.

Long story short: the whole thing has been a fraud for years. Maybe at one point the data supported their theories, but it certainly hasn't for some time now. These people have colluded to perpetrate the worst fraud in the history of mankind. Some excerpts:

I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline

The skeptics seem to be building up a head of steam here! … The IPCC comes in for a lot of stick. Leave it to you to delete as appropriate! Cheers Phil

Phil, Here are some speculations on correcting SSTs to partly explain the 1940s warming blip. If you look at the attached plot you will see that the land also shows the 1940s blip (as I’m sure you know). So, if we could reduce the ocean blip by, say, 0.15 degC, then this would be significant for the global mean … It would be good to remove at least part of the 1940s blip

There is so much more. I am working to get a copy of the file containing the data as we speak. At that time I will be going through it myself to examine the information thoroughly. Many of the major players involved in these emails have already confirmed their authenticity, and are so pompous that they actually do not understand the hub-bub. My guess is this is just the position they are planning to take in response. Insanity.

This is about to become one of the biggest stories in the history of news media. Think of the implications of this. How much has been spent to try to bring ourselves in line with these frauds ideals? Entire industries have been formed and shaped by this garbage for years. Taxes levied, fines introduced. How about Obama and his "green jobs" BS? Huge, absolutely huge.

Excuse my disjointed writing today, I'm a bit emotional over this story. I can't wait to see it hit the mainstream news networks.

A Real Plan for Population Control

11/19/09 | by Jim [mail] | Categories: Rants and Raves

Let's cut right to the chase on this one. In my earlier post, "Birth Rates by Income", I delved a little bit into what I feel is a burgeoning problem. Case and point, from that post:

For the nation, in 2006, 10 years after passage of the Act, the birth rate for women 15 to 50 years old receiving public assistance income in the last 12 months was 155 births per 1,000 women, about three times the rate for women not receiving public assistance (53 births per 1,000 women).

So everyone knows it, politicians, you, me...the question is what exactly do we do about it. Lucky for you I have a thought on that matter.

Voluntary sterilization.

Now I know what you're thinking: "But Jim, why would someone want to do such a thing?" The quick and easy answer? We pay them to.

You see, we did cash for clunkers. That was a voluntary program meant to improve living for society as a whole while also improving the lives of the individual trading in the car. Same principle, but I would argue with much better results. It would work something like this:

To start, let's say the figure paid would be $5000 plus cost of the sterilization procedure. So anyone taking part in this plan would receive that amount. Those older than 21 would be eligible for this benefit with or without a child. Anyone younger than 21 must have at least one child, and those younger than 18 must meet the child criteria as well as parental consent.

Worried about a potential hustle? There will be some fraud as there always is, but vasectomy reversal procedures are not cheap, so you don't have to worry about someone getting snipped and then just using some of the cash to "unsnip" and keeping the remainder. For women it would be even more costly, if possible at all.

It is at its core a sound and practical plan. No one is forced into anything. We don't have restrictions on family size like China, but it will help to stem the tide of population growth all the same. Most importantly, it will likely have its biggest impact in the communities making the least and thus least able to provide for a large family. This will allow them to better provide for themselves and increase their own chances of bettering their life situation as well as those around them. It will do so both by decreasing their number of dependents, and giving them a quick financial injection they can use to better themselves.

The truth is that whether we like it or not change will be coming. Why not address that change with practical solutions that preserve some of our core freedoms? We can do it. Yes we can. Yes we can.
