It's Tea Time

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, it's DemocraticUnderground.com. Now with that out of the way, let's begin...

I invite you to peruse a few posts on the site before continuing, or not, doesn't really matter to me. Let me just start by saying there is not a more censored forum on the web that I have come across, and that's saying something. Not only are they completely fascist in their censoring practices, but they are also insane. I actually think one may go hand in hand with the other. Allow me to explain.

You see, these DU'ers (as they would call themselves), are not exposed to any opposing opinions. Anything resembling an opposing opinion, or even information (factual mind you) that would be contrary to what they wish to believe in their fairy tale land is destroyed or banned. Now what makes these folks extra special is that they do all of this while purporting to be huge advocates of freedom of speech and expression. What makes them super duper extra special is they do it all with a straight face.

The DU has become something akin to a major religion in that its followers are not, in the overwhelming majority of cases, open to factual arguments and opposing views. Which actually is worse than most serious believers of major religions, because they will just believe what they want regardless of what you say, but will often times at least let you say it.

Let me reference an example, an example which led me to this post today. I happened to be reading some posts on DU, as I occasionally like to stop in and see how the mental asylum is coming along. I noticed a post about Obama "leaving the door open for prosecuting Bush/Cheney administration officials". I read the linked article and at the bottom was a link for a poll asking whether or not people thought this prosecution should be pursued. Strangely enough, this poll is not listed with the article anymore. THE PLOT THICKENS! OK seriously...

So at the time, the poll showed a 57% not in favor, 42% in favor, and 1% not knowing. Firstly, the "not knowing" folks should be taken out to pasture. Secondly, this article/poll is from MSNBC. I will say that again: MSNBC. MSNBC is the polar opposite of Fox News, but without the great ratings Fox News has. So if their poll shows a 57% not in favor rating with about 20,000+ votes tabulated, well you get the point. Moving on...

I post this information in the forum on the DU. Twenty five minutes later my account is deactivated. Hooray facist regime of cockbags. I remember back in the early days of the DU they would actually allow opposing view points and preach their own with ferocity. No more. Gone are the days of self respect and pride at the DU. Gone are the days of confidence in their beliefs and ideals. These are the loony days. Let's just say that the growth of the DU's user base is directly linked to the stock prices of aluminum foil producers.

Take heart though folks! These people spend all of their time convincing each other their time will come if they just keep at it for one more year! Just one more guys!!! WE CAN DO IT!
