Poor people suck
Was just browsing the net, reading a little bit of this and that. In most cases, both this and that were completely retarded (not unlike this site, actually). Still, random junk for the mind is tasty!
Anyway, I came across a blog with a post on how poor people suck. They seemed to get a lot of responses, many of which rag on our government for not doing enough when it came to poor people. That shit really pisses me off. I often wonder exactly what these supreme intellectuals think it is the government should be doing, exactly. I would love to see one of them explain this in detail for once, without leading into some inevitable "Well if we weren't spending all that money in Iraq..." spin off. Hey jerk offs: poor people were here before Iraq, and they'll be here long after. Stop making excuses and just admit you suck, and have no clue what life is, beyond watching American Idol and discussing it by the water cooler.
Anyway, I posted this comment in response:
Public schools: free.
Public school too crappy?
Library: Free.
Internet at library: Free.
Dialup connection: $5 a month.
Forums and IRC: Included with your dial up, all the info you need.
Basic phone service: Varies, but cheap as shit. Those are all of the things you need to succeed in this country. There are government programs for health insurance, and hospitals cannot turn you away in the ER. Cars themselves are cheap, if you buy a junky hoopty, but the insurance can be expensive if you have points. Otherwise you can easily get away with $75 a month.
Gas is relatively expensive at the moment, but a POS car will be a four banger, and if you don't spend your off time driving around to bars, you're fine. Alcohol/cigarettes, $5-$7 a pack, similar per six pack. Those would be (and probably are) your largest expenses at $14 a day, and are also hardly conducive to success...at the very least not a plus or a minus. A pack a day would set you back $180 per month, a few six packs a week about $60. In cheap rent cases, with a roommate say, that is probably about half your rent right there. Quit smoking and drinking.
Food stamp programs help with food, but if they avoid the ciggy/alky trap, they should have plenty left over even working the lowest paying job.
The means to escape being poor are there, the knowledge of them and/or the actual belief it can be done by these people are what are lacking. More programs will not save these people.
Take that you smelly bastards!
I meant the intellectuals there by the way, so please poor people don't take offense. Not that I'm that worried anyway, how many poor people really even know the internet exists? It's probably like some sort of super duper wizardry to them. Like if you could bring a caveman to our time and show him a light bulb. Crazy poor people.
